Some people are able to fake it under the worst circumstances. A flutter of the eyes, a stirring in the corners of the mouth.
“Write me a poem about smiles!”
“No!” she frowned “I’m not a poet and I don’t pretend to be.”
Her glasses fogged from the boiling water, “What type of smile are you looking for anyway?”
“The large contagious kind,” I replied smartly as I tried to embody the very thing I was trying to describe.
She frowned again.
“Well, I wouldn’t know anything about that. Pass me the salt.”
Yours is the best. Some times you fake it but I know that it is not sincere.

You Have a Beautiful Home features work exploring domestic spaces as a setting for intimacy. The exhibition employs sculpture, photography, painting, installation and performance to recast decorative and domestic objects as metaphors for romance, disappointment and femininity. The works disrupts the conventional ideas of interior space and creates a critical yet endeared commentary of the places we inhabit. The exhibition includes new work by Jenal Dolson, Taylor Finke, Tracy Midulla, Jenn Ryann Miller and Libbi Ponce.
Taylor Finke explores personal narrative in relation to family, identity, femininity, and the domestic space through constructed images, often paired with photographs found in her family archive. Taylor received a BA in Psychology from the University of South Florida, where she also studied photography. Finke's work has been exhibited nationally in venues such as the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Roman Susan Gallery in Chicago, and the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, among others. Tampa, FL— Tempus Projects is pleased to present, More and Better Ideas for You, a solo exhibition of new works by Tampa-based artist Jenn Ryann Miller. Miller’s work opens the dialogue between materiality and the perception of form. Using an assemblage of raw materials that pin painting against sculpture the work creates a contrast that leads to formally appealing and intelligent while remaining playful and inviting. This exhibition will challenge the viewer’s distinctions between the social practice of craft and contemporary art.
